Biography
Igor was born on January 11, 1987, in the village of Grybovytsia, Ivanichyvskyi district, Volyn region. He attended the local school, and after graduating, he acquired the profession of an underground electrician at the Novovolynsk Higher Vocational School. From 2006 to 2007, he served in the Ukrainian Airborne Forces. After his service, he worked as an underground electrician at the Novovolynsk mine No. 5. He married in 2011 and lived with his wife in the city of Novovolynsk, working as an operator of automatic and semi-automatic machines and equipment at the "Kronospan UA" factory. He was an avid fisherman. Igor was a loving husband, a good son, a great brother, and a true friend. On April 8, 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine and served in the 51st Mechanized Brigade. During the night of July 14, 2014, the brigade's unit participated in a battle with terrorist groups in the Sverdlovsk district of the Luhansk region. The brigade's soldiers bravely repelled the terrorists. After the battle, they began to withdraw from Cheremshyne, but terrorists fired a guided anti-tank missile at the 2S1 self-propelled artillery gun. As a result, three Ukrainian soldiers were killed, including Igor Kantor. He did not have time to use the body armor that his fellow villagers had bought for him but had not yet been able to deliver. Igor Kantor is buried in the cemetery of his native village of Grybovytsia.Military service
