Biography
Roman Mykolaiovych Motychak was born on May 30, 1969, in the village of Berezhok, Turka district, Lviv region, and later lived in the neighboring village of Limna. He graduated from the local school and served in the military in one of the units of the Northern Fleet's marine infantry. He served just before the collapse of the USSR, in distant Arkhangelsk. As part of a combined unit of these elite troops, he participated in a military parade in Moscow (the last one before the collapse of the Soviet Union). He got married and raised two children. Before the events on the Maidan, Roman had completely peaceful plans. He intended to build his own house and create a car workshop. He often traveled abroad, bringing back various parts and mechanisms, and crafted a new digger (homemade all-terrain vehicle) — the best in the village. It seemed like an ordinary biography of an ordinary person. However, not everyone is capable of voluntarily stepping up to be a master of their land and taking responsibility for its future. Roman Mykolaiovych actively participated in the events of the Revolution of Dignity, being part of the Lion Hundred. By the way, most of the "Maidan activists" remembered Roman as a man in military uniform with a black beret adorned with a marine infantry emblem on his head. When the formation of the National Guard battalion "Donbas" began in April, he signed up as a volunteer without hesitation. Going to war, he didn't even tell his close ones about it — he didn't want to upset his family. Roman's mother, Yaroslav Ivanivna, recalls that her son was extremely determined in his intentions, and nothing would have made him cancel what he had planned. However, Roman also didn't want to give his family a reason to worry — he hoped to return home when he and his comrades would forever eradicate all sprouts of separatism from their native land… Unfortunately, it was not meant to be. Friends of Roman Motychak say that he was calm, balanced, but at the same time decisive and fearless when it came to defending the honor and dignity of Ukraine. In his native village, Roman was loved and respected. For many, he was and remains a role model. That is why the student and teaching staff of the school, having gathered the necessary funds, honored the bright memory of the hero by installing a memorial plaque on the facade of the educational institution. Soon, by the decision of the XXIV session of the Turka District Council of the VI convocation, based on the decision of the Limna Village Council and the minutes of the meeting of the labor collective of the Limna Educational Complex, the Limna Educational and Training Complex of the Turka District Council of Lviv Region was named after Roman Motychak. A memorial plaque also adorns the wall of the house where the man lived.Military service
