Serhii I. Panasiuk

Born on October 20, 1985, in the city of Korostyshiv, Zhytomyr region. Graduated from 9 grades of the general education school No. 2 named after L.Kh. Darbinyan (since 2008 - educational and training complex "General Education School - Lyceum of Information Technologies" named after L.Kh. Darbinyan) in the city of Korostyshiv, then - Korostyshiv Professional Agrarian Lyceum. In March 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served as an operator of the anti-tank platoon of the 1st Airborne Assault Battalion of the 95th Separate Airborne Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0281, city of Zhytomyr). Since the spring of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On May 2, 2014, around 22:15, while performing a combat mission to block a column on the bridge over the Sukhyi Torets River near the village of Andriivka on the southern outskirts of the city of Sloviansk, Donetsk region, he was shot at by militants who, hiding behind civilians, opened fire, resulting in the deaths of two servicemen. One of them was Senior Soldier Panasyuk, who was killed by a sniper's bullet that hit the paratrooper in the neck. On May 5, 2014, he was buried in the cemetery of the city of Korostyshiv, Zhytomyr region. On September 19, 2014, a memorial plaque was unveiled in the city of Korostyshiv on the facade of the building of the General Education School - Lyceum of Information Technologies named after L.Kh. Darbinyan (Darbinian Street, 10), where Serhiy Panasyuk studied.
