Serhii O. Tabala (Sievier)

Born on December 16, 1995, in the city of Lebedyn, Sumy region. In 2011, he graduated from the 9th grade of secondary school No. 9 in the city of Sumy. He studied at the Sumy Chemical and Technological Center for Vocational and Technical Education, specializing as a "Cook-Confectioner." With the beginning of the Revolution of Dignity, Serhiy was on Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, where he was an active participant. On November 29, 2013, at Maidan Nezalezhnosti in Kyiv, Serhiy joined the public movement "Right Sector" and later became the commander of one of the units. In January 2014, he participated in clashes with the "Berkut" on Hrushevskoho Street, on February 18, 2014 - in clashes with the police on Instytutska Street, and on the night of February 18-19, 2014, his unit defended the barricades on Khreshchatyk Street in Kyiv. In July 2014, Serhiy Tabala went to the training camp of the public movement "Right Sector." From the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On August 28, 2014, during another assault by Russian militants on the positions of Ukrainian soldiers at Donetsk International Airport, Serhiy Tabala sustained shrapnel wounds to his chest and arms. After that, he refused to leave his comrades and combat positions, continuing to carry out combat missions. However, after some time, by order of the commander, he went for treatment. After treatment, Serhiy returned to the area of the anti-terrorist operation, where he continued to perform combat missions as part of his unit during the defense of Donetsk International Airport. On November 6, 2014, Serhiy Tabala was killed by an artillery shell from a 100-mm MT-12 "Rapira" anti-tank gun during the assault by Russian militants on the control tower of Donetsk International Airport. On November 10, 2014, he was buried in the Alley of Honorary Citizens at the Central Cemetery in Sumy. On December 17, 2014, by the decision of the Sumy City Council, Serhiy Oleksandrovych Tabala was posthumously awarded the title of "Honorary Citizen of the City of Sumy." On January 28, 2015, in the city of Sumy, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of secondary school No. 9 (3 Dargomyzhskyi Street), where Serhiy Tabala studied. On December 16, 2015, in the city of Sumy, a memorial plaque was unveiled on the facade of the building where Serhiy Tabala lived (8 Kharkivska Street).
