Yurii I. Mizunskyi

Born on March 18, 1988, in the city of Chernivtsi. In 2003, he graduated from the 9th grade of secondary school No. 38 in Chernivtsi, then attended the Chernivtsi Polytechnic College (since 2007 - Chernivtsi Polytechnic College). He studied at Yuriy Fedkovych Chernivtsi National University majoring in "Radio Engineering." Worked at a private enterprise in Chernivtsi. In April 2014, he was mobilized into the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the 87th Separate Air Assault Battalion of the 80th Separate Air Assault Brigade of the Red Banner Order of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A2582, Chernivtsi). From May 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On June 17, 2014, a group of fighters from the 2nd company of the 87th Separate Air Assault Battalion, which included soldier Mizunskyi, left the city of Shchastia in the Luhansk region on three BTR-80 armored personnel carriers to assist the fighters of the volunteer battalion "Aidar," who were engaged in combat with Russian-terrorist groups. In the area of the village of Metalist in the Slovianoserbskyi district of Luhansk region, the group of paratroopers was ambushed. As a result of the battle, 9 servicemen were killed, including soldier Mizunskyi. On June 22, 2014, he was buried at the Sadgora Cemetery in Chernivtsi. On June 4, 2015, during the 64th session of the Chernivtsi City Council, a decision was made to rename 26 Baku Commissioners Street in Chernivtsi to Mizunskyi Yurii Street. On March 17, 2017, a memorial plaque was unveiled in Chernivtsi on the facade of secondary school No. 38 (Yana Nalepky Street, 3), where Yurii Mizunskyi studied.
