Anatolii M. Volynko (Volyna)

Sergeant Anatoliy Volynko (call sign Volyna) was killed on January 25, 2023, in battle near the village of Ternyi in the Donetsk region. While repelling the enemy assault, he received fatal injuries during a mortar attack. The defender was 55 years old. Anatoliy was born in the village of Kyselivka, Chernihiv region. He studied at a school in the neighboring village of Derzhanivka. He then graduated from the Kyiv Technical School of Railway Transport (now the Kyiv Professional College of Transport Infrastructure), where he obtained the qualification of locomotive driver. He served in the army, where he received the rank of warrant officer. After demobilization, he worked in various fields. He started a family and lived and worked in Kyiv. His last job was at the Mega-Poligraf printing house. "With the start of the full-scale invasion, the father took up arms and went to defend the Motherland," said his son Bohdan Volynko. Since August 10, 2022, he served in the 44th separate rifle battalion. He held the position of rifleman-assistant grenadier. He took part in the liberation of the Kharkiv region and the defense of the Donetsk region. "Our countryman from Kyselivka, Anatoliy Volynko, was killed a hero's death. Thank you for our peace. You, Hero, paid too high a price for our peaceful mornings - you gave your life... We will remember," the community wrote. Anatoliy was buried at the Berkovets cemetery in Kyiv. The warrior is survived by his wife Nadiia and son Bohdan.
