- Born on June 2, 1968, in the city of Mykolaiv. In the spring of 2014, he was mobilized as a volunteer to the 79th Separate Airborne Brigade of the High Mobility Airborne Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (military unit A0224, city of Mykolaiv). Since the summer of 2014, he participated in the anti-terrorist operation in eastern Ukraine. On September 28, 2014, a column of Ukrainian military vehicles moving towards the old terminal of Donetsk International Airport came under fire from Russian-terrorist groups from the direction of Putilivska Roscha street in Donetsk. During the battle, the BTR-80 armored personnel carrier, in which soldier Khonenko was located, was hit by a Russian T-72 tank, resulting in the deaths of 2 servicemen from the 79th Airborne Brigade, including Anatoliy Khonenko. Since then, he was considered missing in action. Identified through DNA testing. Buried in the cemetery of the city of Mykolaiv.Book of Remembrance for Ukraine - Ukrainian memorial
