Andrii A. Eivazov (Avaz)

Soldier Andrii Eivazov (call sign Avaz) was killed on July 1, 2023 near the village of Nevske in the Luhansk region. During the performance of a combat mission, his unit came under artillery and mortar fire, as a result of which he received fatal injuries. The defender was 46 years old. Andrii was from the village of Kinski Rozdory in the Zaporizhzhia region. He lived in the city of Znamianka in the Kirovohrad region. After finishing school, he went to work and changed many professions. His last job was at the local utility services plant, where he worked as a mason. He loved to tinker and was interested in numismatics. During the full-scale invasion of the occupiers, Andrii joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to defend his native country. He served in the 21st separate mechanized brigade, holding the position of a machine gunner. "Andrii's life was cut short at 5:40 a.m. by the impact of a mortar. No one else from the unit was injured, only one of his comrades suffered a mild concussion. The positions were held, the Russians retreated. Andrii was killed as a hero," the commander described the events of July 1. "I knew Andrii since childhood, and now memories of him evoke nothing but a smile on my lips. Andrii was a bright and selfless person who put other people's problems above his own. Eternal glory to the brave son of Ukraine who gave his life for our freedom," said Vadym Brahin, the brother of the deceased's wife. The defender was buried in Znamianka. At home, Andrii was awaited by his wife, daughter, who was 11 years old at the time of his death, and his family.
