Andrii A. Makotra (Botsman)

Soldier Andrii Makhotra (call sign Boatswain) was killed on November 28, 2023 at a stabilization point in the city of Kurakhove in the Donetsk region. A day earlier, in a battle with the occupiers near Mariinka, he sustained severe injuries as a result of a mortar attack. The defender was 35 years old. Andrii was born in the city of Novhorod-Siverskyi, Chernihiv region. He graduated from the local secondary school No. 2. He served his conscription in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He worked at a sawmill in his hometown. Then he got married and moved to the city of Brovary near Kyiv. He worked as a high-rise installer in construction. He was passionate about football. During the full-scale war, the man served in the 46th separate airmobile brigade of the airborne assault troops of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a gunner in the airmobile platoon. "Andrii was a loving father and husband, kind, understanding, strong, courageous... The best..." - said his wife Anastasiia. The paratrooper was buried in the Alley of Glory cemetery in Brovary. At home in Andrii, his wife and three children were waiting.
