Andrii D. Donchenko

Senior Lieutenant Andriy Donchenko was killed on April 30, 2022, in a battle with Russian occupiers near the village of Ruska Lozova in the Kharkiv region. The officer was 28 years old. Andriy was born in the village of Yaduty in the Chernihiv region. He stu at a rural school. In 2013, he served his mandatory military service in Crimea. After the occupation of half the peninsula, he left for Zaporizhzhia with his military unit. The following year, he enrolled in the National Academy of the National Guard of Ukraine and later began his service. He lived with his family in Kharkiv. In his free time, he spent time with his daughter, loved singing karaoke, and was passionate about everything related to weapons. Andriy Donchenko served in the 3rd Operational Brigade named after Colonel Petro Bolbochan. He was the commander of a platoon in the operational assignment company. From the first days of the full-scale war, he defended Ukraine from the occupiers alongside his comrades. "He had health problems and could have been discharged a long time ago, but he decided to stay because he dreamed of becoming an officer. He was very kind, never refused to help, wanted to receive the title 'Hero of Ukraine,' and always said that even if he were not an active officer, he would still be the first to pick up a rifle to defend the country and his family," said the officer's wife, Anna. The National Guardsman was buried at the Alley of Glory in cemetery No. 18 in Kharkiv. At home, his wife and daughter were waiting for Andriy.
