Andrii D. Melnyk

Andriy Dmytrovych Melnyk was born on October 16, 1984. Andriy’s childhood was spent in the village of Proletarske, Korop district, Chernihiv region. He graduated from the Kozyatyn Technical School, obtaining the qualification of assistant locomotive driver. During his mandatory military service, he was a scout. Later, he moved with his family to the city of Nizhyn. He worked as a collector-welder of safes. In August 2014, he was called up to the army and served in the 81st Air Assault Brigade. He underwent training in the city of Kostiantynivka, Donetsk region. After training, he was assigned to the village of Vodiane, where he carried out combat missions. He directly participated in the battles for Donetsk Airport, where he was on missions. He was killed on February 28, 2022, during fighting with Russian occupiers in the village of Olishivka in Chernihiv region. He is survived by his wife and two children.
