Andrii F. Melnyk (Mafiia)

35-year-old warrior Andriy Melnyk (call sign Mafia) was killed on April 6, 2023 near the village of Dibrova in Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he received fatal shrapnel wounds during enemy shelling. Andriy was born in the village of Rozhyshche in Volyn. He lived with his family in the city of Novovolynsk. He obtained the profession of an electrician at a vocational school. He worked at the Novovolynsk foundry. He was married and devoted all his free time to his family, adoring spending time with his sons. On February 27, 2022, the man joined the ranks of volunteers to protect his home and family from Russian invaders. Andriy served in the 100th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He was a senior rifleman of the 55th battalion. Initially, he was sent to defend Ukraine on the border with Belarus, where he conscientiously performed his duties. Later, he went to the Lyman-Kupiansk direction, where he actively participated in battles shoulder to shoulder with his comrades-in-arms. "Andriy gave his life for the integrity and independence of Ukraine, he was a true patriot, a courageous and brave warrior, a faithful comrade-in-arms. He was a reliable support for his family and comrades-in-arms. Unfortunately, fate decided otherwise... Eternal and bright memory to our Hero who gave his life for Ukraine!" - wrote his wife Natalia. The defender was buried in the Alley of Heroes of the cemetery near mine No. 2 in Novovolynsk. At home, Andriy was awaited by his parents, wife and two sons.
