Andrii H. Spitsyn (Saha)

43-year-old junior lieutenant Andrii Spitsyn (call sign Saga) was killed on February 28, 2024 near the village of Semenivka in the Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during an enemy tank shelling. Andrii was born in Mykolaiv. He graduated from the Admiral Makarov National University of Shipbuilding. He was an electrical engineer by profession. He worked at the scientific and production enterprise "Zorya-Mashproekt". He was passionate about football and fishing, and loved listening to rock music. During the full-scale war, in April 2023, the man voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the front. He fought as part of the 144th separate infantry brigade. He commanded an infantry platoon. "He defended the country of his own free will. A kind and honest person. He always treated everyone well. He loved his family. He enjoyed life and was a person with a capital letter. He had many plans for life. He dreamed of managing to see his grandchildren..." - said the officer's son Igor. Andrii's body remained in the territory temporarily controlled by the occupiers. The relatives are waiting for an exchange and hope that they will be able to honorably see off their defender on his last journey. At home, his parents and son were waiting for the hero.
