Andrii I. Hnyp

Andriy Ivanovych Hnip was born on June 25, 1988, in Ivano-Frankivsk. In 2010, he graduated from the Institute of Management and Economics "Halytska Academy." In May 2022, Junior Sergeant Andriy Hnip was called up for military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of the mobilization. Since October 12, 2022, the border guard soldier served as part of a combined unit in one of the key areas of the Luhansk region, where his unit was under constant fire pressure from the aggressor. During the defense of the borders in the area of the villages of Raigorodka, Kovalivka, Karmazynivka, and Novovodyane in the Luhansk region, together with servicemen of the 66th Separate Mechanized Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andriy participated in holding the defense line, repelling, and restraining the armed aggression of the Russian Federation. On October 19, 2022, in the area of the village of Karmazynivka in the Luhansk region, Russian occupiers began shelling the positions of Ukrainian troops. As a result of the artillery shelling of the platoon stronghold No. 35, where Andriy Hnip was located and fighting, the border guard sustained serious injuries incompatible with life. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and loyalty to the military oath, Junior Sergeant Andriy Ivanovych Hnip was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the III degree.
