Andrii I. Melnychenko (AlKapone)

Sailor Andriy Melnychenko (call sign Al Capone) was killed on December 29, 2023, while performing his duties near the village of Krynky in the Kherson region. During enemy artillery shelling, he sustained fatal injuries. The warrior was 25 years old. Andriy was born in the city of Zvenyhorodka, Cherkasy region. He graduated from the Lysianskyi Vocational Lyceum and obtained the profession of a tractor driver. In 2017-2020, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation (ATO) / Joint Forces Operation (JFO) in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. After his release, he went to work abroad. When the full-scale invasion began, he returned to Ukraine. Despite the fact that he had a daughter, in February 2023, he went to defend his homeland. Andriy served in the 503rd separate marine battalion of the 38th Separate Marine Brigade. He was a senior driver of the fire support company. "My son was an incredible person whose spirit and dedication always amazed those around him. He was not only devoted to his country, but also an incredibly loving son, father, and wonderful brother. His courage, strength, and kindness will forever remain in our hearts. He will always be in our thoughts and memories as a loving and unforgettable son, father, and brother, who brought so much joy and pride to our lives. Eternal memory to our Hero," shared Olena Melnychenko. The marine was buried in the new cemetery in Zvenyhorodka. At home, Andriy was awaited by his mother, siblings, and daughter.
