Andrii I. Omelchenko (Zloi)

Colonel Andriy Omelchenko was killed on September 1, 2022, during the performance of a combat mission in the Zaporizhia region. The officer received fatal injuries during an enemy mortar attack while leading his combat unit. On October 29, the defender would have turned 46 years old. Andriy was born in Kharkiv. He graduated from the Kyiv Institute of Ground Forces. He served in the SBU. He was passionate about traveling and motorcycles. He participated in the ATO in 2014-2015. He was awarded the medal "For Military Service to Ukraine". When he left the service, he worked in an IT company. From the first day of the full-scale invasion, he again took up the defense of Ukraine. He served in several units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. At his last place of service, he was the deputy commander of the brigade. "My husband valued freedom, kindness and justice the most," said his wife Olena. The officer was buried in Kyiv. His wife and two daughters were waiting for Andriy at home.
