Andrii I. Shufryn

Senior Sergeant Andriy Shufryn was killed on May 9, 2022, during an enemy artillery shelling in the area of the village of Zolotarivka in the Luhansk region. The defender was 41 years old. Andriy was born in Lviv. He stu at secondary school No. 51 named after I. Franko. He graduated from the Lviv Technical School of Light Industry. Later, he served in the separate airborne regiment in the city of Khyriv. He worked as a dispatcher. From 2014 to 2015, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation as part of the 80th Separate Airborne Brigade. When he returned from the army, he worked abroad. With the onset of the full-scale Russian invasion, he immediately joined the ranks of the 80th Separate Assault Brigade. Together with his comrades, Andriy set out once again to defend his homeland from the occupiers. But this time it was for the last time. “He was cheerful, sincere, kind, and loved to joke. He had many friends and always came to help everyone,” said his sister Oksana. The defender was buried at the Mars Field of Lychakiv Cemetery in his native Lviv. Andriy is survived by his parents, wife, daughter, and sister with her family. Senior Sergeant Andriy Shufryn was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
