- Senior soldier Andrii Yakymenko (call sign Yeger) was killed on February 17, 2023. In the area of the village of Vremivka in the Donetsk region, he came under enemy tank fire together with his comrades-in-arms. The defender was 42 years old. Andrii was born in the village of Verbky, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from the local school. He worked in various professions. He loved active recreation, hunting, and fishing. He lived with his family in Pavlohrad. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Andrii joined the territorial defense forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the engineering and sapper platoon of the 231st battalion of the 128th separate brigade of the Territorial Defense Forces. As part of his unit, he defended Ukraine from the occupiers and carried out combat missions on the front line. "A constant energizer. Always with a smile, always in the lead. Forever in our hearts!" - said his comrade-in-arms Yevhen. "On behalf of the Pavlohrad community, the mayor Anatolii Vershyna, the Pavlohrad City Council and its executive committee express their deepest condolences to the relatives and close ones of the fallen defender, sharing the heavy pain of the loss. A deep bow to the warrior-defenders," the community page wrote. The serviceman was buried in the Alley of Glory in Pavlohrad.
