Biography
Andrii Mykolaiovych Antykhovych was born on May 21, 1996 in the city of Bakhmach, Chernihiv region. He studied at the local gymnasium. At the same time, he trained at the Children and Youth Sports School in the football department, and participated in regional and national competitions. After finishing the 9th grade, he was enrolled in the Chernihiv Lyceum with enhanced military and physical training. He received his higher education at the Ivan Kozhedub Kharkiv National Air Force University. During the Russian invasion of Ukraine, he held the position of a Su-25 pilot as part of the 299th Tactical Aviation Brigade named after Lieutenant General Vasyl Nikiforov. On February 26, 2022, he flew a combat mission in a Su-25 aircraft in the Kherson direction to stop the enemy forces attempting to cross the Dnipro River. The pilot detected columns of enemy equipment and manpower and successfully struck them, stopping the enemy's advance in this direction. During the execution of the combat mission, Andrii Antykhovych's aircraft was shot down by enemy air defense means. The pilot, without hesitation, directed the damaged aircraft towards the column of enemy equipment in order to destroy the enemy. He was buried on February 4, 2024 in the village of Zazymia, Kyiv region. He is survived by his parents, sister, and wife.Burial place
