- Major Andrii Avramenko was killed in action on June 28, 2022, during an enemy shelling while performing his duties in the area of the village of Myropillia, Sumy Oblast. The warrior was 43 years old. Andrii was born in the village of Hlybne in the Sumy region. He stu at the Sumy comprehensive school of I-III degrees No. 9. He was an active, inquisitive, and responsible student. He was fond of sports. He graduated from the Military Institute of Artillery named after Bogdan Khmelnytskyi at Sumy State University. He held the position of commander of the platoon of training and combat equipment and equipment of the military unit A0473. Later, he was appointed to the position of commander of the training platoon of the training battery of the training artillery division, and from August 2002 - to the position of commander of the training artillery battery of the training artillery division. In August 2007, he was released from service into the reserve. He worked in the internal affairs bodies, and then in the National Police. He repeatedly took part in the JFO in the territory of Donetsk and Luhansk regions. From the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, he joined the creation of the 15th separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the purpose of which was the defense and protection of Sumy. On March 1, 2022, he was drafted into military service, took the position of chief of staff - first deputy commander of the 15th separate rifle battalion. "Andrii Mykolaiovych took direct part in the creation of the next shift service from the personnel of the unit, which was on the block posts in Sumy and on the approaches to the city, which practically made it impossible for the enemy's sabotage and reconnaissance groups to penetrate Sumy. He directly led the combat groups to detect and neutralize the equipment and manpower of the Russian troops on the territory of Sumy and Sumy district. The group led by Major Avramenko put out of action and destroyed 6 tanks and 1 SAU of the enemy," they said in the Sumy City Council. The hero was buried on the Alley of Glory of the Central City Cemetery. He left behind a wife, daughter, and son. Andrii Avramenko was awarded jubilee medals, the medal "For faithful service" of the III degree, a certificate of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, a badge "For merits before the Ukrainian people", an honorary distinction of the Sumy Regional Council "For merits before Sumschina" of the III degree, and posthumously - an honorary distinction of the Sumy City Council "For merits before the city" of the II degree. Posthumously, Andrii Mykolaiovych was awarded the rank of lieutenant colonel. In Sumy, the 5th Prodolna Street was renamed in honor of Lieutenant Colonel Andrii Avramenko.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
