Andrii M. Kostin

Senior Master Sergeant Andrii Kostin died on October 25, 2023, in the settlement of Kurdiumivka, Donetsk region. During enemy mortar shelling, he sustained fatal injuries. He was 52 years old. Andrii was born in Kramatorsk, Donetsk region. He graduated from school No. 24. He then studied at the Sloviansk Pedagogical Institute. He served in the army and later found employment with the Security Service of Ukraine. After retiring, he worked in the Department for the Prevention of Corruption of the Donetsk Regional State Administration. He was interested in boxing. In 2015, he served in the 93rd Separate Mechanized Brigade "Kholodnyi Yar". Then he returned to work at the Regional State Administration. During the full-scale war, the man served in the 11th Border Guard Unit. He defended Ukraine on various sections of the front, particularly in the Donetsk direction. He was a border guard inspector and the head of the rapid response border guard detachment. "He was very active, energetic, honest, and fair. We, his family, as well as his friends, miss his spirit and words of reassurance that everything will be alright..." - his wife Olena said. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in Kramatorsk. Andrii is survived by his wife, son, and sister. Posthumously, the warrior was awarded the Order of Courage, III degree.
