Andrii O. Petrenko (Pastor)

36-year-old defender Andriy Petrenko was killed in action on June 20, 2022, from shrapnel wounds received during shelling. Andriy was born in the city of First-May (Pervomaysk) in Luhansk region. In his childhood, he moved with his family to the village of Litky in Zhytomyr region. There he finished local school, then stu at the Kyiv Geological Exploration Technical School. After graduation, he worked in his specialty for some time. Then he worked for 7 years at a private company that manufactured metal-plastic windows. His last place of work was the Bolt taxi service. Andriy led a healthy lifestyle and helped others get rid of bad habits. He actively participated in the work of rehabilitation centers. He was a believer, did not miss a single Sunday service, and dreamed of starting a family. When the full-scale war began, Andriy was one of the first to join the local self-defense forces. Two weeks later, he moved to the territorial defense of Kyiv, from where he voluntarily joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of shooter-assistant grenadier. Together with his unit, he went to defend his native Luhansk region. He told his mother then that he had come to his homeland. The serviceman was buried at the Darnytskyi cemetery in the village of Litky, Zhytomyr region. Andriy left behind his mother and brother.
