Andrii O. Vasiliev (Vasia)

Serviceman Andrii Vasyliev (call sign Vasia) was killed on October 19, 2022 near the settlement of Bilohorivka in Luhansk region. Together with his comrades, he fell into an enemy ambush. The defender was forever 24 years old. Andrii was born in Vinnytsia. After school, he graduated from Vinnytsia National Technical University. Then he chose the path of a military man, and since 2019 he served in the 8th Regiment of the Operational Purpose named after Ivan Bohun of the National Guard of Ukraine. In his free time, he adored walking in the park, cheerful meetings with friends. He never sat still, movement was his life. During the full-scale war, Andrii continued to carry out combat missions and defended Ukraine from the occupiers on the front line. "I thank God that Andrii appeared in my life. I have never met such a kind person. And I will never meet one... He, like no one else, loved his country, for which he gave his own life. Andrii was a man with a capital letter, sincere, devoted, kind and sensitive. He always helped everyone. He loved this life very much and had big plans for the future. He showed me how to be truly happy and loved," said the hero's fiancée Snizhana. The defender was buried on the Alley of Glory in his native Vinnytsia. Andrii is survived by his mother, fiancée and other relatives.
