Andrii P. Karpiak (Karp)

23-year-old senior soldier Andrii Karpiak (call sign Karp) was killed on January 28, 2024 near the village of Robotyne in the Zaporizhzhia region. During the evacuation after being wounded, he came under enemy drone attack. Andrii was from the village of Arlamivska Volya in the Lviv region. He graduated from school there. He then enrolled in the Lviv Professional College of Food and Processing Industry of the National University of Food Technologies. In peacetime, he worked as a food equipment repair mechanic at the Lviv Bread Factory No. 1. He was interested in cars and their repair. He had many plans and dreams, but the war changed his life. On July 10, 2023, he joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the reconnaissance of the 33rd Separate Mechanized Brigade. During his service, he received a commendation for high academic performance and for forming a positive image of a warrior-patriot, which he was very proud of. "Andrii was very brave, always striving to achieve something better. He was a support and pride for me and my parents. He was a person who was always by my side in any situation. He was an example for me. In any circumstances, he always smiled, which is how many remember him," his sister Lilia said. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Andrii was awaited by his parents, sister, relatives, and friends.
