- Sergeant Major Andriy Turchyn (call sign Turchik) was killed on November 1, 2022, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Ploschanka in the Luhansk region. The warrior was 39 years old. Andriy was born and lived in the town of Emilchyn in the Zhytomyr region. After finishing school, he served in the Separate Presidential Regiment named after Hetman Bohdan Khmelnytsky. In 2008, he graduated from the Odesa Law Academy. In civilian life, he had a small business. He organized a disco for the youth in his hometown. With the beginning of the Russian-Ukrainian war in 2014, Andriy went to defend his homeland. During his military service, he established a positive reputation. He was a good comrade and a responsible soldier. He was awarded multiple honors, including the Order of Courage of the III degree. During the full-scale war, he fought as part of the 95th Separate Air Assault Brigade. He was a commander of a reconnaissance platoon. "Andriy was a leader in life. He had many friends, was active, sociable, and was a model of courage, strength, and wisdom. We were friends our whole lives, even born on the same day. I helped him with supplies for him and his comrades. In the summer, together with concerned Ukrainians, we raised funds for a vehicle for combat missions. For me personally, this is a very heavy loss," said the deceased's classmate Natalia. The paratrooper was buried in his hometown. Andriy is survived by two sons: Maksym and Tymur.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
