Andrii S. Kondzelko (Mamai)

Soldier Andriy Kondzelko (call sign Mamay) was killed on February 19, 2023 in a battle with the occupiers near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. The defender was forever 31 years old. Andriy was born and lived in the village of Strilky, Lviv region. He graduated from the computer academy "STEP". He worked as a photographer. He loved his work and had a talent for it. He wrote poems, did pottery, and made decorative trees from copper wire. From the first days of the full-scale invasion, Andriy joined the territorial defense of the Bibr city territorial community. On July 22, 2022, he joined the ranks of the 53rd separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He took the position of radio operator. At the end of the month, he was sent to the outskirts of Kyiv to defend it. On February 13, 2023, his battalion was sent to the Donetsk region, where Mamay was killed 6 days later. "My brother Andriy was kind, bright, and sensitive. He was a creative person, a talented photographer, a sincere friend. He was constantly engaged in self-development and could always come to the rescue. Andriy was a sunny person, an optimist in life. He had many plans for the future, but the war changed his priorities. He showed his courage and love for Ukraine by going to defend the Motherland and his family. Andriy gave his life so that each of us could live in a free Ukraine under a peaceful sky. For me, Andriy was a beloved brother, a strong shoulder and support. It is difficult for us, his relatives, to come to terms with the fact that he is no longer with us. He went to the heavenly army to continue defending us and Ukraine from there," said the fighter's sister Myroslava. The defender was buried in his native village. The hero left behind a mother, sister with a family, a girlfriend, cousins with families, nephews, other relatives, comrades-in-arms and friends. On May 23, 2023, on the Day of Remembrance of Heroes, a memorial plaque in honor of the warrior was installed on the facade of the Bibr Support Lyceum, where Andriy studied.
