Andrii V. Balyk

34-year-old sapper Andriy Balyk was killed on August 31, 2022, while performing a combat mission in the area of the village of Novopetrivka in the Kherson region. The defender received fatal injuries during an artillery shelling. Andriy was born in the city of Chortkiv in the Ternopil region. He graduated from the local school No. 5, was engaged in sports and visited the gym. He loved summer very much, lakes, rivers, sun. When there was an opportunity, he went to the river to swim. He always took on any work, was not afraid to work, helped, replaced everyone. Andriy was a good man with a great, kind and fair heart. He always came to the rescue, was the best father, husband and friend. A cheerful, sincere guy who grew up as a true patriot of his country. He always knew how to support everyone in a difficult moment. During the full-scale war, Andriy served in the engineer-sapper platoon of the 98th infantry battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. All the time, he reassured his wife and relatives with the words: "Everything will be fine. Who, if not us?! Victory is ours!" Comrades reported that Andriy always had a positive attitude and boundless sincerity. And his sense of humor constantly supported them, with him it was always fun. He was a true combat comrade, with whom they confidently went into battle. "I am glad that I met Andriy. He was a good and honest man who always helped. He is our comrade and friend! We will never forget him!", said one of the combat comrades. "Bravery, his strength of spirit, his fairness, patriotism, kindness and humanity - these character traits are remembered by all who were close to Andriy... Our whole family is in deep mourning. We will always remember our Andriy as he was in life! Eternal memory to you, our Hero! Low bow, thank you for everything. You will always be in our hearts!", said a relative of the fallen warrior. The defender was buried in the Alley of Glory in his hometown. Andriy left behind his mother, sister, brother, wife and daughter.
