Andrii V. Basyk (Kasper)

27-year-old grenade launcher Andriy Basyk (call sign Kasper) was killed in action on July 26, 2022, during battles for Kherson region. The defender received a fatal shrapnel head wound during an enemy shelling near the village of Bilohirka. Andriy was born in the village of Antonivka, Rivne region. He grew up in a large family, was always positive, and helped his parents. He stuwas killed in action at Antonivka school. He received the profession of a chef-officer at the Kyiv Higher Professional Technical School of Food Technology. He loved football, children, and going to the forest for mushrooms. After the start of the full-scale war, Andriy was drafted into military service in the 46th separate assault brigade. "During his military service, he proved himself exclusively on the positive side. He performed his functional duties perfectly, enjoyed authority among his colleagues, and had a good level of motivation for military service," - this is how he was described in the military unit. "Another angel, innocently killed, flew to the Kingdom of Heaven, and we were left with eternal pain for our defenders," - wrote Svitlana Zhuravska, Andriy's fellow countrywoman. Andriy Basyk was buried in his native village of Antonivka, Varash district, Rivne region. At home, the defender was waiting for his parents, four sisters, two brothers, and four nephews.
