Andrii V. Chernyshenko

Soldier Andrii Chernyshenko died on May 2, 2022, on his 44th birthday, during a mortar attack near the village of Shyroke in the Zaporizhzhia region. Andrii was born in Kharkiv. He received secondary education at a local school. He worked for a company specializing in the installation of metal-plastic structures. In his free time, he was always repairing something. He helped all his relatives and acquaintances. During the full-scale Russian invasion, the man evacuated his family to a safe place and joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 128th Separate Mountain Assault Brigade. "Andrii was always a kind and sincere person, ready to help. He had golden hands and could fix anything. He loved his only daughter. He was born and lived in Kharkiv, in the Northern Saltivka area, which was one of the first to be shelled. He evacuated his family to Western Ukraine, sent them abroad, and voluntarily went to the military enlistment office to defend his homeland. He died on his birthday. I was in touch with him in the morning, I congratulated him, we corresponded, and on May 5 we learned that he died in the evening of that day," said his godmother Yulia. Andrii was buried in the Alley of Glory of cemetery No. 18 in Kharkiv. He is survived by his wife, daughter, sister, and close friends. The defender was posthumously awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
