- Soldier Andrii Mielkyi (call sign Chekh) was killed on March 14, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Stelmakhivka in the Luhansk region. The defender was 46 years old. Andrii was born in the city of Dnipro. He graduated from local school No. 143. He worked as a construction worker and loved his job very much. He spent his free time with his family. With the start of the full-scale war on March 2, 2022, Andrii volunteered to defend his native country. He joined the ranks of the 128th separate brigade of the territorial defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He held the position of a machine gunner. In early summer, his unit defended the Dnipropetrovsk region, later moved to the Donetsk and Kharkiv regions, where the soldiers took part in the cleansing of Kupiansk. Later, they went to the Luhansk region. "Dad was an incredibly bright and strong person. He always had a good sense of humor and looked for positivity everywhere. After the full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation, without hesitation, he joined the ranks of the Territorial Defense Forces, which later joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He defended Ukraine until his last breath. He is the bravest and coolest dad," said the deceased's daughter Alina. The warrior was buried in his hometown. At home, Andrii was awaited by his mother, brother, wife, and two daughters.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
