- Junior Sergeant Andrii Shvets (call sign Sheva) was killed on December 9, 2022 near the village of Nevelske in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the soldier came under enemy mortar fire. The defender was 41 years old. Andrii was born in the village of Tarasivka, Vinnytsia region. He graduated from Tulchyn Vocational School No. 41, obtaining the qualifications of tractor-machine operator and repair mechanic. In 2011, he completed specialized training and acquired the profession of a security guard, which he later worked in. In 2014, he participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation in the Donetsk and Luhansk regions. He was a tank mechanic-driver in one of the units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the full-scale Russian invasion, Andrii defended Ukraine as part of the 9th battalion of the 59th separate motorized infantry brigade named after Yakov Handziuk. He held the position of senior rifleman. "He was the best man. He always said: 'Once we cleanse our native Ukraine of the invaders, my love, then we will always be together, and I will never leave you alone again.' He was a true son of Ukraine, a good friend, always positive. He was my whole universe," said the deceased's beloved woman Viktoria. The defender was buried in his native village.
