- Junior Sergeant Andriy Slobchenko (call sign Troll) was killed on August 9, 2022, in a battle with the occupiers in the area of the village of Klynove, Donetsk region. The defender was 33 years old forever. Andriy was born in the village of Bulakhivka, Dnipropetrovsk region. He graduated from Dnipropetrovsk National University named after O. Gonchar. When the Russian-Ukrainian war began, the man voluntarily went to Donbas. He fought in the ATO / OOS for six years. He was part of the Dnipro-1 battalion and the 93rd separate mechanized brigade. After completing his contract service, he was engaged in business in Kyiv. With the beginning of the full-scale invasion, Andriy joined the 72nd separate mechanized brigade named after the Black Zaporozhians and again went to defend Ukraine. He was a platoon commander. "Andriy was a very kind, honest, fair, and brave person. In peacetime, I did business with him. During the full-scale invasion, he didn't even think about running away or hiding, he immediately said: 'Take me to the military commissariat.' He was killed as a hero, lived the same way as a hero. Honest, fair, brave," said the defender's brother, Artem. "The events of recent years have proven that independence is what is worth fighting for. Therefore, let us bow our heads to our fellow villagers who defended and was killed for our freedom with you. We have been given to live in difficult times, but we sincerely believe that together, thinking about tomorrow, about future generations, about our responsibility to history, we will overcome all difficulties and troubles. Let us be responsible first of all to ourselves - let us do our job and be united in our desire to preserve the most precious thing we have: freedom and independence, because the state begins with each of us," said the Mezhirich community. The serviceman was buried in his native village. Andriy left behind his parents and brother.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
