- The defender of Mariupol, Andriy Bozhko (call sign Famas), was killed in action on April 3, 2022, during the defense of the city from Russian occupiers. The life of the 23-year-old warrior was cut short by a bullet from an enemy sniper. Andriy was born in the city of Kryvyi Rih, Dnipropetrovsk region. He stu at the Metallurgical Lyceum No. 16. Then he entered the Faculty of History and Law at the Pedagogical University. He did not complete his studies, as he went to France and joined the French Foreign Legion. After a year of service, he returned to Ukraine and joined the NGU "Azov" regiment. He loved sports, athletics, boxing. He stu French on his own. He was interested in shooting and editing videos. During the full-scale war, Andriy continued to fulfill his military duty together with his comrades-in-arms. From the first days of the invasion, they defended Mariupol. "He was a person who took responsibility for what he did and said. He only looked forward. He saw the goal and did not see obstacles, understood that to achieve results, one must act. Fear of something was a stimulus for struggle. Andriy was self-sufficient. He did not consider other people as a way to solve his problems. He did not allow himself to be manipulated, was not a hypocrite. He always took the initiative. A real man. Andriy was as multifaceted as a diamond, all his facets are precious to me... He was always ready to lend a helping hand, from the bottom of his heart and without expecting anything in return. He was so sensitive. If someone needed help, he would get up even in the middle of the night and do everything that depended on him. For the sake of loved ones, he was ready to do anything, to sacrifice everything. A bright, kind, and selfless person. Always wanted to learn something new, constantly developed, stu languages, wanted to travel more, was an example for many. He was not only a like-minded person to me, with whom you could discuss everything in the world, a worthy support and support. He was a person with whom we created our little world," Andriy's beloved Valeria shared. The warrior was buried at the Alley of Heroes of the Central Cemetery in the city of Kryvyi Rih. Andriy leaves behind his grandmother, parents, beloved, relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms.
