- Andriy Yuriyovych Havryk was born on February 25, 1977, in Transcarpathia. During his service in the 3rd Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, Andriy Havryk held the position of senior specialist — driver of the communications apparatus section of the "Zolote" border service. By his personal example and diligent attitude towards fulfilling his military duty, he ensured a high level of communication organization and combat readiness of the "Zolote" border service. Covering the approaches to the defense forces of Ukraine to prevent a breakthrough by Russian troops, the serviceman, as part of a border unit group, carried out a combat mission in the area of the village of Zhitlivka in the Kreminna district of Luhansk region. On March 9, 2022, Sergeant Major Andriy Havryk, along with a comrade, monitored the positioning of occupying troops. A Russian sabotage and reconnaissance group made several attempts to attack the positions of the border guards. Opening fire, the soldiers forced the aggressor to retreat. After a failed attempt to encircle the border unit, the enemy changed tactics and switched to remote shelling. Sergeant Major Andriy Havryk covered the actions of the border unit with small arms, selflessly holding back the enemy's advance. Finding himself at the epicenter of the battle, Sergeant Major Andriy Havryk was mortally wounded due to the detonation of a mine. For personal courage and selfless actions demonstrated in defending the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and for loyalty to the military oath, Sergeant Major Andriy Yuriyovych Havryk was posthumously awarded the Order of "For Courage" of the 3rd class.Memory Book of the MIA System
