- 27-year-old fighter Andrii Kovalyuk (call sign Rambo) died on February 1, 2024 in a hospital in Dnipro. The day before, he was seriously wounded in a battle near the settlement of Ocheretyne in the Donetsk region. He suffered burns on 88% of his body and a head injury. Doctors tried to save him, but the warrior's heart stopped. Andrii was born in the village of Khorotsevo, Ivano-Frankivsk region. After school, he served in the military. Later, he got married and moved to the village of Babyn, where his beloved was from. The couple went abroad to work. They dreamed of a cozy family and children. When the full-scale war began, the couple had a son. In March 2022, Andrii went to the front. At first, he fought as part of the 22nd separate rifle battalion of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, then joined the ranks of the 116th separate mechanized brigade. He held the position of operator-gunner, deputy commander of a combat vehicle. He took part in battles in the Kharkiv, Zaporizhzhia and Donetsk regions. He was awarded the badge of the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine "Golden Cross". "Andrii was honored to defend Ukraine shoulder to shoulder with his comrades-in-arms. He was remembered as brave, courageous, with a smile on his face," said his wife. "How hard it is to live without my little one... Protecting our land from the invaders, my son, my bright falcon, was killed, giving his life for Ukraine. No one can understand a mother's pain, which tears the heart. It is impossible to convey this in words," wrote his mother Liudmyla Petrushko. The warrior was buried in the village of Babyn, Ivano-Frankivsk region. At home, Andrii was awaited by his wife Maria, son Vadym, who was 2 years old at the time of his father's death, his loving family and friends.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
