Military Andriy Martenyuk was killed on February 19, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Vodiane in the Donetsk region. The soldier received fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. The defender was 38 years old. Andriy was from the village of Brodetske in the Vinnytsia region. He lived in Kharkiv. He graduated from the Kharkiv Engineering and Construction College. He then enrolled at the Oleksiy Beketov Kharkiv National University of Urban Economy. He worked as a storekeeper at the furniture company "Viyar". In his free time, he loved to go fishing. During the full-scale war, the man joined the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He served in the intelligence of the 53rd Separate Mechanized Brigade named after Prince Volodymyr Monomakh. "A faithful, honest, decisive, fair and beloved husband. He always said that one must remain human under any circumstances," said the deceased's wife, Nadiia. "At the height of the attacks on Kharkiv, Andriy walked to work on foot and helped save the remaining equipment and goods of the company. He came under direct shelling several times. He brought home trophy shell fragments and firmly believed that he was under the protection of the Almighty. But hell awaited him ahead, in the Donetsk direction, where the shelling did not stop, where he almost daily lost the guys with whom he underwent training or carried out tasks, where the unbearable pain from wounds and losses... He pulled many guys on himself and forced them to fight for their lives. He taught others to remain human under any circumstances. He never sought easy paths and confidently moved forward. Ukraine has lost a Hero," the community added. The defender was buried in his native village. At home, Andriy was awaited by his parents, wife, and daughter.
