Anton M. Atamaniuk (Turyst)

Captain Anton Atamaniuk (call sign Tourist) was killed on October 15, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Verbove in the Zaporizhzhia region. The warrior was forever 34 years old. Anton was born in the city of Khmilnytskyi. He studied at the local secondary school No. 9. Then he served his compulsory military service and decided to connect his life with the army. So he graduated from the Military Academy in Odesa. He became an officer and began service in the Special Operations Forces of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Since 2014, the man has participated in the Anti-Terrorist Operation / Joint Forces Operation. He carried out complex combat missions in dangerous areas of the front. During the full-scale war, Anton served in the 8th separate Special Operations regiment, where he held the position of commander of a special forces group. For his courageous and selfless service, the officer was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree and the Order of Bohdan Khmilnytskyi of the III degree (posthumously). The special forces soldier was buried in the Alley of Glory of the cemetery in the Rakove microdistrict in Khmilnytskyi. Anton is survived by his mother, wife and son.
