Artem A. Holub (Ptytsia)

Senior Sergeant, border guard Artem Holub (call sign Bird) was killed on October 28, 2023, during the defense of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. While carrying out a combat mission, he suffered a fatal explosive injury. The warrior was forever 30 years old. Artem was born in the village of Zidky, Kharkiv region. He studied at the local secondary school. He then went to work to help his family. In 2011, he served in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In 2015, he got married. In his free time, he loved to play football. In 2020, the man signed a contract for military service. During the full-scale war, Artem fought for his Motherland as part of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He served in the 4th (Kharkiv) border detachment. He held the position of senior category border guard inspector, head of the department (machine gunner). In 2022, he enrolled at the Yaroslav Mudryi National Law University in Kharkiv, which he did not have the chance to graduate from. "A beloved husband, caring father and the best son, who had a big heart and gave it to those around him," said the deceased's wife Anna. "Courageous, purposeful and persistent. For him, there were no tasks that could not be accomplished. The brave hero bravely defended the borders from the enemy. And above all, he wanted peace in Ukraine and the fastest return home, to his loved ones," added the Zmiyiv community. The hero was buried in his native village. At home, Artem was awaited by his parents, wife and two sons. Posthumously, Senior Sergeant Artem Holub was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
