Artem I. Marmyzko

24-year-old border guard Artem Marmyzko was killed on July 29, 2022 from severe injuries sustained the day before. The defender was carrying out a combat mission at the Sarny checkpoint, on the state border of Ukraine with Belarus. Artem was born in the city of Kramatorsk, Donetsk region, and graduated from local school No. 18. In 2015-2016 he was a student at the Faculty of Architecture of the Donbas National Academy of Construction and Architecture. In 2016, the guy signed a contract for military service in the tank division of the Armed Forces of Ukraine and went to the ATO zone, where he carried out combat missions and participated in battles near Avdiivka, Donetsk region. During the battles, he sustained a concussion. When the full-scale invasion began, Artem joined the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. He served in the 7th Carpathian Border Guard Unit. On July 28, 2022, the serviceman sustained serious injuries during service on the border between Ukraine and Belarus. The next day he was killed. "I taught him drawing at the Faculty of Architecture. A bright boy... Eternal memory," wrote lecturer Elizaveta Nepochatykh. Artem was buried in his native Kramatorsk in the Donetsk region. His young daughter Emilia was left without a father.
