Artem M. Demchenko

A Artem Mykolaiovych Demchenko was born on January 9, 1991, in Shostka, Sumy Oblast. In 2009, he graduated from Shostka Higher Vocational School No. 19. On October 25, 2022, Artem Demchenko was called up for military service in the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine as part of a mobilization effort. After undergoing the necessary combat, medical, and tactical training at the Main Training Center for Personnel of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine named after Major General Ihor Momot, he was assigned for further military service to the 15th Border Post of the 4th Border Command of the 5th Border Detachment on November 18, 2022. During his service, he distinguished himself positively, approached his duties diligently, and completed assigned tasks on time and with quality. He did not lose his composure in the face of difficulties and was able to make measured decisions during changing circumstances. He exemplary performed combat tasks related to the protection and defense of a designated section of the state border. He personally participated in combat engagements and repelled enemy attacks. On May 30, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission in the area of the village of Fotovyzh, Hlukhiv District, Sumy Oblast, Artem Demchenko was killed during enemy shelling. For his personal bravery and selfless actions displayed in defense of the state sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine, and his loyalty to the military oath, Senior Soldier Artem Mykolaiovych Demchenko was posthumously awarded the "Defender of the Fatherland" medal.
