- Senior Lieutenant Artem Desyatnyk (call sign "Son-in-law) was killed on July 16, 2023, near the village of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhzhia region. While carrying out a combat mission and rescuing his comrades during an artillery bombardment, the officer received fatal shrapnel wounds. The defender was 33 years old. Artem was born and lived in the city of Fastiv, Kyiv region. He graduated from 9 grades of academic lyceum No. 2 and the Center for Vocational Education. Then he became a student of Bila Tserkva National Agrarian University, where he obtained a higher education in the specialty "Management of Organizations and Administration". He served his compulsory military service. In 2017, he went on military service under a contract. He was a driver of the automotive platoon of the separate guard and maintenance company of the 101st separate guard brigade of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. During the full-scale invasion, the man fought for Ukraine in the ranks of the 33rd separate mechanized brigade. He was a company commander. He participated in battles on various hot fronts. In the autumn of 2022, the officer was awarded the medals "For the Defense of Bakhmut" and "Defender of the Fatherland". "Artem was a cheerful, conscientious, honest, decent, responsible person, always ready to help. He loved, valued and respected his parents very much. Ukraine has lost another patriot who should have revived the nation and rebuilt the country," said the sister of his comrade-in-arms, Victoria Slavynska. "Not everyone can, looking death in the eye, stand shoulder to shoulder with their comrades, not fearing for their lives, save others and bravely fight for the freedom of their country," added Larysa Tovtin, a close person of the deceased. "Artem Desyatnyk was a responsible person, always ready to help. That's why he had many friends. He loved and respected his parents, always cared for them and protected them. He adored his son. And he also sincerely loved Ukraine. And he gave the most precious thing for it - his life," they added in the Fastiv City Council. The officer was buried in his hometown.
