Artem O. Chertovskyi (Lom)

31-year-old defender Artem Chertovskyi (call sign Lom) was killed on June 26, 2023 near the village of Novomykhailivka in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, the warrior sustained injuries incompatible with life. Artem was born in the village of Chapaevka (now Voskresenska) in the Zaporizhzhia region. After finishing school, he obtained the specialty of an electrician at the Polohy Vocational Lyceum. He worked at the Batkivshchyna agricultural firm in his native village. In 2018, he decided to change his profession, enrolled at the Melitopol Vocational Lyceum of Railway Transport, where he obtained the profession of a wagon inspector-repairman. It was in this profession that he found himself, working at the Prydniprovska Railway, in the structural unit "Vagonnoye depo Zaporizhzhya-Leve". He simply loved to live, spend time with his family, especially with his son. After the beginning of the full-scale invasion, the defender could not stand aside and joined the 79th separate airborne assault Tavria brigade. He took the position of operator of the 2nd platoon of the anti-tank guided missile systems company of the fire support company of the 3rd airborne assault battalion. For his service, the defender was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree. "It is very difficult to accept that the man is gone. He was the best... He was a man with a capital letter, the best dad, the husband with whom nothing was scary. Artem was a good friend and comrade, he never left anyone in trouble, he helped everyone. He always had a smile on his face, he was like the sun that always lit up everyone! The son misses his dad very much, they always spent time together. Artem will forever remain in our hearts and thoughts. I know that even in heaven the man is always nearby and helps us. You are our guardian angel, our Hero, whom we miss very much. We love you!" - said his wife Natalia. The defender was buried at the Kushugum cemetery in Zaporizhzhia. Artem is survived by his wife, son, father, brothers, sisters and other relatives. The defender's mother was killed a month after his death.
