Artur V. Ponomar

57-year-old combat medic Artur Ponomar was killed on January 8, 2023 near Soledar in the Donetsk region. When the brigade was heading to evacuate the wounded, an enemy missile hit the location of the medical company. The entire crew was killed. Artur was from Odesa, but spent most of his life in Zaporizhzhia. In 1993, he graduated from Zaporizhzhia Medical University. For over 30 years, he worked in the healthcare sector of the region, 25 of which he was a surgeon at Zaporizhzhia City Hospital No. 9. In 2014, he participated in the ATO in Donbas. After demobilization, he returned to civilian work. With the start of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man joined the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine again. He served in the medical company of the 92nd separate mechanized brigade named after Koshovy Otaman Ivan Sirko. Colleagues and loved ones remember Artur Volodymyrovych as a highly qualified surgeon, an optimist, an honest and sincere person with incredible courage, a big heart and strength of spirit. The pain of losing a loved one cannot be healed, but may the good, bright memory of our defender become stronger than death and forever remain in the memory of relatives, colleagues, friends, comrades-in-arms, all who knew Artur Volodymyrovych, loved and respected him. We mourn with you, we bow our heads in sorrow. He was a true patriot of Ukraine, a principled Ukrainian-speaking person. He not only defended the pro-Ukrainian position for many years, but could also infect those he communicated with with love for Ukraine! Being a very correct and principled person, he made even those who were not used to it think... Thank you! We remember! The best of us are really leaving!
