Bohdan H. Stashchuk

Sergeant Bogdan Stashchuk (call sign Spider) died on April 18, 2022 in a hospital in Kyiv. A week before, he was driving on the "Kurakhove - Donetsk" highway to carry out a combat mission and was blown up by an unknown explosive device near Marinka. The military was evacuated to the hospital with shrapnel wounds and underwent an operation, but his heart stopped. Now the defender is forever 26 years old. Bogdan was born in the village of Maidanivka, Zhytomyr region. In 2016, he graduated from the Kyiv Vocational College of Railway Transport named after V.S. Kudryashov. He loved table tennis very much, participated in competitions and won awards. In 2016, after graduating, Bogdan joined the army, joining the ranks of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine. After a year, he signed a contract. During the full-scale war, he defended the Motherland as part of the 1st (Donetsk) border detachment. He held the position of sergeant of material support - head of the supply department of the anti-tank border outpost. "Bogdan, with his example of resilience and indomitability, cold-bloodedness in decision-making, inspired his comrades-in-arms to fulfill combat missions. My brother was a brave warrior, a good person and a loving son," said the warrior's sister Kateryna. The defender was buried in the village of Novaky, Zhytomyr region. He was survived by his father Hryhoriy, brother Ihor and sister Kateryna. His mother did not survive the loss of her son and died in September 2023. Posthumously, Bogdan Stashchuk was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree, as well as the award of the Korosten City Council "For Courage and Bravery".
