- Senior soldier Bohdan Shcherbyk (call sign Bull) was killed on September 14, 2022, in battle near the town of Myrnohrad in the Donetsk region. He sustained fatal injuries during enemy shelling. Four days later, the defender would have turned 27 years old. Bohdan was born in the village of Usychi in the Volyn region. He stu there at school. He then mastered the profession of an electrical installer at Lutsk Higher Vocational School No. 9. He completed his mandatory military service. To earn a living, he went to Poland, which he grew to love. He was interested in everything, loved cars, and wanted to start his own business in Ukraine. Before the invasion, he worked in construction at the company "Tomix." He had established a very good reputation there. After his death, the Polish people erected a monument to the hero. When the full-scale war began, he returned to his homeland and volunteered to defend Ukraine. In March, he became a soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He fought in the ranks of the 110th Separate Mechanized Brigade named after General Khurunjy Mark Bezruchko. Together with his comrades, he defended Donbas. Bohdan wrote poetry and sang. Five days before his death, he wrote his last poem "The Pink Sky of Donbas." "You don't often meet such real men as Bohdan. Without hesitation, on the first day of the war, he went to defend our Ukraine, swearing that he would give his soul and body for our freedom," noted his mother Neonyla Oleksiivna. The hero was buried in his native village. He rests under two flags: Poland's and Ukraine's, as he himself requested from his mother. On the Polish flag, the Poles wrote "Everything is good" — this was Bohdan's life motto. He is survived by his mother, two brothers, and a sister.Memory Platform 'Memorial'
