Bohdan R. Honchar (Haidamak)

National Guard soldier Bohdan Honchar (call sign Haidamak) died on June 27, 2023, while carrying out a combat mission near the village of Mala Tokmachka in the Zaporizhia region. He sustained fatal injuries during enemy artillery shelling. On May 29, the warrior turned 23 years old. Bohdan was born in the village of Ryzyno, Cherkasy region. He completed 9 grades of a rural school and enrolled in the Uman Agrotechnical College, where he received a degree as a mechanical engineer. During his studies, he worked in a dry-cleaning shop, where he proved himself to be a good and conscientious worker. He loved to sing, dance, and go for walks. He was interested in cars and military affairs. In 2019, the young man was drafted into the National Guard of Ukraine. He was stationed in Zaporizhia, although he had always dreamed of returning to Uman. After six months, he signed a three-year contract with the 15th Brigade of the National Guard of Ukraine. At the time of the full-scale war, Bohdan held the position of senior mechanic-driver. Together with his comrades-in-arms, he defended his native country from the occupiers. During his service, he repeatedly received commendations for the conscientious performance of his duties, steadfastness, and courage. "Bohdan is my soul, my universe, my brightest ray that filled everything with meaning, love, and peace. We argued over who loved each other more, but we both loved too deeply. I still don't believe they took my life from me, and I will wait for him for an eternity. He taught me to love life, but now I don't know how to live without him. Bodya was the soul of the company, the music, the song, the dance, and the comfort. A person who will never leave, always come to help and do everything in his power, always inspire and console. A person of coziness, a person of peace. He loved this life. He is the best. I love him infinitely," shared the deceased's fiancée, Alina Shandra. The young warrior was buried in his native village. Bohdan's home was awaiting his mother Vita, sister Diana, fiancée, loving family, and many friends.
