Bohdan V. Demkiv

Soldier Bohdan Demkiv killed in action on March 24, 2022, while performing his duties in Donetsk region. An enemy shell cut short the life of the defender during the battle. The soldier was forever 24 years old. Bohdan Demkiv was from the village of Podlasiv, Lviv region. He graduated from the Pryemyshl Professional Lyceum. Then he decided to devote himself to military service and signed a contract with the Armed Forces of Ukraine. He participated in the ATO/OOS. In his free time, he loved to cook and always helped his parents. He created a family and dreamed of family comfort. After completing his contract, he wanted to return to civilian life. At the time of the full-scale Russian invasion, the man was serving in the 11th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Shepetivka Regiment as part of the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Together with his comrades, he continued to bravely defend his native country from the enemy. "Bohdan will always be a smiling, kind-hearted man in our hearts," his cousin Zoryana said. "His comrades-in-arms spoke of him as a loyal friend who always diligently carried out his tasks during his service. After completing his contract, he dreamed of returning to his home village with his family and building a life there, as he last held his daughter in his arms when she was 2-3 months old." Bohdan was buried in his home village. He is survived by his parents, older sister, wife, daughter, who was not yet a year old at the time of her father's death, as well as relatives, friends, and comrades-in-arms. Posthumously, the young warrior was awarded the Order "For Courage" by the President of Ukraine.
