Bohdan V. Oleksiichuk

The 22-year-old senior soldier, Bohdan Oleksiychuk, killed in action on February 24, 2022, during battles for Kherson region. The serviceman became one of the first to die at the beginning of the full-scale invasion of Russia into the territory of Ukraine. He was posthumously awarded the Order of "Courage" III degree. His parents and elder brother, who also went to defend Ukraine, are left behind. "My Bohdan was a kind and good person," said Bohdan's mother, Tetiana Oleksiychuk. She is deeply grieving the loss and occasionally posts poems dedicated to her son on social media. "My son, my blue-eyed son, My greatest loss in life. There is no way to turn back time, What is the world worth without him now? I find no comfort in this white world - I seek solace in my dreams. What now? Words etched in stone And a kiss on the lips of death. My son lies in a foreign land. I ask God only for strength, To wait for that moment And cry on his grave. I know - it will never be the same."
