Bohdan V. Pidhainyi (Hais)

Serviceman Bohdan Pidhainyi (call sign Hais) was killed on August 18, 2023 near the city of Bakhmut in the Donetsk region. During the performance of a combat mission, he sustained fatal injuries as a result of a mortar attack. Two months prior, on June 20, the warrior turned 20 years old. Bohdan was born and lived in the village of Rudantsi, Lviv region. He graduated from school there and then studied at the Lviv Vocational and Technical School. He always wanted to have his own income, so from a young age he took on any work. He spent his free time with friends and in the summer traveled with his family to his grandmother in the Carpathians. He always helped his parents in everything. When the guy turned 18, he went to work in Poland. On February 24, 2022, Bohdan was working abroad, but decided to return to Ukraine to defend it. Without telling anyone about his intentions, he immediately went to the military enlistment office and signed up as a volunteer, and then went home. Later he was drafted into the Armed Forces of Ukraine - the 3rd separate assault brigade. He spent the first months in the infantry, then ended up in air reconnaissance and became a UAV operator. "Bodya will forever remain my best, only brother, whom I will always love and will tell about him until the end of my days. He was and will be the brightest person in this world, I will never forget this snow-white smile and bright eyes. We love you. Me, mom and dad," wrote the fallen soldier's sister. The young defender was buried in his native village. Bohdan is survived by his mother Natalia, father Volodymyr and sister Solomiia.
