Daniil Yu. Dobrov

Lieutenant Danil Dobrov was killed on May 8, 2022, while defending the sky over the Odesa region. The officer sustained fatal injuries during a hostile rocket attack near the settlement of Avangard. Exactly two months before his death, he turned 22 years old. Danil was born in the settlement of Vilshanka in the Kirovohrad region. He stu at a local school. In 2017, he enrolled in the Air Defense Faculty of the Ivan Kozhedub Air Force University of Kharkiv. At the beginning of the full-scale Russian invasion, having prematurely completed his studies, he began to fulfill his duties in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine. In one of the units, the young officer held the position of chief of the anti-aircraft missile crew of the anti-aircraft missile battery of the anti-aircraft missile division. He was interested in history and geography, military technology, and cars. He sincerely loved life and believed in justice. He dreamed of getting married and having two children. "He could discuss anti-aircraft matters for hours. Even the most dedicated anti-aircraft specialist would envy his knowledge," wrote his friend Oleksandr Vladov on social media. "The Polish writer Bruno Jasieński chose a phrase as an epigraph for his book 'The Conspiracy of the Indifferent' that has become famous: 'Do not be afraid of enemies - at worst, they can kill you. Do not be afraid of friends - at worst, they can betray you. Fear the indifferent. They do not kill and do not betray, but through their silent consent, murders and betrayals exist on earth.' Today I am sure that Danil was an indifferent person; for such people, there is a future," said his class teacher Lyudmyla Mykhailivna. The officer was buried in his hometown. At home, Danil's parents and sister were waiting for him. Posthumously, Lieutenant Danil Dobrov was awarded the Order of Courage of the III degree.
